MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Sixty hours of college credit.  Demonstrated ability to work under moderate supervision with latitude for independent judgment. Successful performance of complex work assignments in the provision of instruction to students. Demonstrated ability to perform in areas such as: instructional materials preparation, completion of paperwork, data collection, report writing, organizational skills, follow through, meeting deadlines, and professional relations with other staff and community.  Type 40 words per minute. Good communication skills. Ability to learn and demonstrate an understanding of Braille in accordance with National Library Service standards including a willingness to obtain Braille transcriptionist certification. Current certification as a Braille transcriptionist preferred. 

General Description:  Responsible for preparation of Braille and tactile materials using Microsoft Word, Duxbury, other Braille transcription programs and tools as necessary.  Maintain inventories and record of all materials and transcriptions prepared and in stock.  Work with teachers and librarian to prepare transcribed materials as necessary.
