If a braille volume of a math text has many occurrences of tables with blank entries, is it acceptable to omit the TN above each individual table, "A series of guide dots across the width of a column indicates a blank space." and place this note on the TN page only?

    Thank you!

In this particular math text, the tables have blank spaces to be filled in and all tables in the book are similar. So the paragraph on the TN page perhaps could read:

"Tables with a series of guide dots across the width of a column indicate answers to be inserted."

    Kim,

Thank you for the question. Full disclosure, this is probably more of a Braille Formats question than a UEB Math/Science question.

Nonetheless, I'll go ahead and say that I like your proposed solution. Instead of repeating the same tn at the beginning of every blank-riddled table, a tn on the Transcriber's Notes Page saying something like, "In all tables, a series of guide dots across the width of a column indicates that an answer is to be inserted."

Before you implement that solution, we must ask: Are there any tables with a blank that's not meant to be filled with answers?

    Thank you, Kyle.

In this particular book, all tables with blanks are for answers to be filled in.

    Convenient!

Then the tn suggested above will work. 👍🏻
