Introducing NBA’s New Educational Award
The National Braille Association is proud to serve braille transcribers and teachers of the visually impaired with two different educational awards. For years now we’ve been honoring the legacy of Past President Mary Archer with an award that covers the cost of registration for first-time attendees to our conferences. We’re now pleased to announce the addition of a second available award in memory of Margaret “Meg” Wagner who sat on NBA’s Board of Directors from 1979 through 1985.
Each of NBA’s educational awards were created with input from surviving family members and the current NBA Board of Directors.
Mary Archer Scholarship
The Mary Archer Scholarship sets funding aside to award two people each year a grant that covers the cost of registration at an NBA Professional Development Conference. Since 2009, we’ve awarded dozens of recipients using this fund.
(Please note that both available awards in 2024 have already been claimed.)
Guiding Light Award for Devotion
After many months of planning and raising money to endow the Margaret “Meg” Wagner Fund, we’re proud to announce the availability of the Guiding Light Award for Devotion (G.L.A.D.)
One recipient each year will receive a Lifetime Membership to the National Braille Association and waived registration costs at an NBA Professional Development Conference. As this award is only just announced, the 2024 recipient is yet to be named and applications are still being accepted.
Applications can be filled out online here. Applications received before September 18, 2024 will be considered.
