I have a question regarding a "Braille Page Change and Blank Lines" as outlined on page 2 in the March 2024 Updates to Braille Formats: Principles of Print-to-Braille Transcription, 2016

Does this guidance apply solely to text that requires a following blank line or does it also apply to text that requires a preceding blank line such as a heading, box, list, etc.?

For example, a paragraph ending on lines 24 or 25 of a braille page followed by a centered or cell-5 heading, or a top box line, at the top of the next page. Would line 1, line 2 if a running header is used, be left blank?

Attached is a Adobe PDF with two examples.

    Thank you.

Thank you Mary for the question.

This update would apply only to the situations when text requires that a blank  line follows. In the two examples that you provided follow rules 4.3.1 for Example 1 and 7.2.1 for Example 2 starting each on line 1 since there is no running head.
