A textbook we are doing lists the chemical notation for gypsum as follows:
    CaSO4•2(H2O)

Please help us determine how to braille this. We are particularly wondering about the dot which seems so prominent.

    Thanks!

Please refer to page 71 of Braille Code for Chemical Notation 1997, Section 4.5.1 Miscellaneous Symbols. The chemical period is explained, followed by its use in Example 4.5.1-1.

Thank you for the reply. We understand the Braille Code section about miscellaneous symbols. We were surprised by the boldness of the dot in our textbook and were not sure whether it should be treated differently. Perhaps the publisher was simply trying to empahsize the dot.
Does the boldness of the dot make any difference?
