I have a hypercomplex fraction with cancellation. I cannot send you the page but it is as follows:

sin a [cos b] over cos a [cos b] MINUS [cos a] sin b over [cos a] cos b and the whole thing is over

    [cos a][cos b] over [cos a][cos b] PLUS sin a sin b over cos a cos b

where I have used brackets to indicate cancellation

    Any suggestions? TIA bt

Hi Barbara. I think your equation is a complex fraction rather than hypercomplex. The numerator and denominator each contain simple fractions. Cancellation in fractions requires a spatial presentation instead of linear. I have attached a suggestion for this problem along with my print version of the fraction you described. Let me know if I have interpreted your description incorrectly.

Of course you are right, Dorothy. It is not a hypercomplex fraction.
