We have been having a discussion about single-word switches and having trouble finding any examples for this type of situation:

    ... to find an and n when a1 = 1, ...

Would it be permissible to use single-word switches on the words and and when, or is it more appropriate to switch out after an and then switch back in again before the equation?

    Thanks for your time!

Since the single letter n can be transcribed in either code (UEB or Nemeth), either transcription is acceptable. Personally, I find it to be smoother reading if you use the single-word switches because this means only one opening Nemeth Code indicator and only one Nemeth Code terminator are needed.
