Lindy,
I don't think this is a linked expression requiring special margins so shouldn't all the runovers begin in cell 9?
It feels very uncomfortable to separate the number attached to the front of "sin" but then it also feels wrong to divide the grouped expression. My "logic" was that the reader would expect the continuation of the grouped expression on the next line. I also considered dividing before the opening parenthesis within the grouping in brackets. No particularly good choices here. ๐
Also, I had another question on that attachment about what to include within Nemeth indicators, if you wouldn't mind taking a look at that please.
Thank you!
Laurie
braillebudParticipantThank you for your help. You've given me lots to think about.
Laurie
braillebudParticipantOkay, that makes sense. I'll try to work with that.
Since the values are not exactly simple, would it make sense to also list all of them in a TN for the student so that they have the same information that print readers have?
Laurie
braillebudParticipant"Our experts note that even though GSTG 6.1.5.10 allows for a rotation of the graph, the problem being asked of the student is to graph an f(x) vs x relationship. This could be confusing if the graph were actually rotated."
So, now what? Could I/should I key the x-axis values? (I also tried spreading it out over facing pages with the x-axis values staggered, but it doesn't fit. )
Laurie
braillebudParticipantHere's the print of the graph I mentioned.

- I omitted the 1/2 labels on the f(x) axis because I can't fit the negative one and I think it's easy enough for the reader to determine what they mean. Since I could fit the positive 1/2, should I?
- The distance between the horizontal and the vertical tick marks in print are the same. In order to fit the labels, I've had to spread the (now) horizontal line so that the tick marks are farther apart. I can't maintain the same proportions as print. Should I mention this in the TN when I explain that I rotated the axes?
Later in the book this same issue comes up but as a graph with grid lines. Is it acceptable to also rotate a graph in this same way?

Thanks so much!
Laurie
braillebudParticipantSo, none of the above. ๐
Thanks!

Laurie
braillebudParticipantIndeed it is. ๐ Thank you!
braillebudParticipantThanks Lindy. I could not find any rule allowing the multipurpose indicator in this instance either. You're right, the hexadecimal string is plenty clear without the ELIs, especially since the letter x is not part of the hexadecimal system. A brief TN and problem solved! Thanks for your help. ๐

I only see the ASCII as I form this message. Let's see if posting turns it into braille.
braillebudParticipantSo you remembered this project. It's been a thrill a minute. ๐ย Fortunately these addresses don't come up very often. Thanks Lindy.
Laurie
braillebudParticipantThank you Kyle. I'm getting closer to feeling like I've got a handle on this project.
The print presentation in the two-column format creates a messy situation with so many print runovers with no way for me to know which are significant. Sometimes it's clear and sometimes it's not. Often, other entries make it obvious which line breaks are not significant so I started making decisions I really have no business making. By following your suggestion to reproduce all line breaks in the computer notation, I no longer have that burden. Let the reader decide, right?ย I like that! I will incorporate your suggestion and see what happens.ย I may be back with more questions. ๐
Laurie
braillebudParticipantThank you Lindy.
Apparently I put the wrong print sample with the braille, which accounts for those errors. Sorry about that!
Laurie
braillebudParticipantUnderstood.
Thank you.
