    Joanna,

Was this posted on BANA? Is BANA's position that we should NOT be using the Promising Practices document at all? I would like clarification on this prior to starting any new transcriptions.
    Thank you.

I don't know why it didn't work. The title is "Help!"

    Here are the two posts:

Sorry, do what? I went to the Search screen, typed in "Help," and clicked "Titles only," but I didn't get anything. You must mean something else. I've tried other searches, also with no luck.

    Good question!
A lot of people have trouble this.
This is not clearly explained in EBAE, but the example in the 2007 Update on pages L27 and L28 does shows the proper usage of a double emphasis indicator when a slash mark appears within the series of 4 or more words.
The double emphasis indicator is used.

    Put out the dog/cat/rabbit.
    ..,put \ ! dog_/cat_/.ra2it4

    I hope this helps

Search for Help in the titles and you will see two sources.

    Hi Lindy -
I'm attaching the worksheet. I looked at the previous post, but I don't think this is the same thing. I appreciate your help. Thanks!!

Good morning. This topic has been discussed recently -- you can find it probably on the same page you are looking at right now, several topics down. Please write back if your questions are not answered after reading that, and looking at the sample files.

Thank you for the print example. I have a much clearer picture of how the text is being presented.
The text you are asking about appears to be displayed material.
What guidelines are you using for this transcription. EBAE or Textbook Formats?

This is the first page of a little paper booklet. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Would you be able to attach an example? It'd be much easier to answer your question if I could see exactly you are working with.

Thank you for your question. Your concern about readability of a third grade math book is appreciated, however there are currently no guidelines incorporated into the Promising Practices document regarding a book following Nemeth code. The Nemeth Code does not address the topic of a Special Symbols page but it is common practice to list only transcriber-devised symbols. However, since you are following the guidelines in Promising Practices, I see no reason not to list the type-form indicators (both literary and Nemeth) used in each volume. Note that, with judicious application of NC Sec.34b, much of the non-regular type found in the print book may be arbitrary.

Forgot to ask, should the number sign and letter sign be used or not?

In this situation, would the termination symbol be put on the special symbols page. Or would you use a Transcriber's Note embedded because you only used the termination symbol once in the volume, then put the TN symbol on the special symbols page.
