Okay now I see what you mean and yes it is off set but for some reason Jana I could not use italics when I typed my post above. Thank you so much for getting back with me on this. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much, Jana! The problem I have with the ampersand issue is that if not for the ampersand in the name of the publisher, the book needs no Special Symbols page at all.

    Hello,

To answer your questions, your certification manuscript should have 35 full (40 cells, 25 lines) pages. If your preliminary pages only equate to a few words, then, yes, it would be a good idea to add a page or two extra ...

Question 2 - I personally would add the ampersand to the Special Symbols page.
Question 3 - the word To should be contracted.

    Happy Holidays!

The student needs to identify specific points to answer the questions. I was thinking of the fold-out option too. Thank you for all of your help Betty. I am so glad that this resource is here.

You are correct that the tick marks really should be 1/8" apart. Do the related questions ask the student to identify a specific point on the plot? I would be inclined to show only the ticks in increments of 5. I usually import the .jpeg into my graphics program and trace, so the placement would be the same as in print, and the student could still roughly calculate the position of the points. I think this option is still far better than trying to split the number line. Another alternative would be to keep the horizontal position and create a fold-out page.

Thank you Betty. I can see that it would be easier to read done vertically--thank you for the wonderful example. Still, I am having a problem making it fit either horizontally or vertically. I have left off the parts of the line that are not being used, (before 15 and after 85) So the data range is between 15 and 85. There are 4 tick marks between each number on the line--several of the points are on those marks so they have to be there. It will fit on the page, if I hand draw it, but only if there is a little less than 1/8 inch between each mark. (I'm thinking that is too close).

I've been watching this post and since Dorothy hasn't responded yet decided to give you an option as described in the Guidelines and Standards for Tactile Graphics. It would recommend that you rotate this box-and-whisker. Please see attached for a similar example.
    Hope you find this helpful.

    Lennie,

This is a choral arrangement, not a vocal solo piece. You should braille each complete vocal part independently, showing only rests where there are no words for that part. Then the piano part is done separately, including a "solo outline" in the parallel above the right-hand line, showing only whichever voice part6 seems most prominent at that point. The chord symbols then go below the left-hand line of the piano part.

I'm sorry I didn't get your question the day you sent it; I was away from home.

    Hello,

The rule is "follow print." If there are multiple ewxclamation points, then you braille what you see. πŸ™‚

    Hi there,

    To answer yor questions:
    1) yes, you can use the contraction.
    2) yes, use that "wh" contraction
    3) in stammered speech, you do not need a letter sign. I is a letter and nothing else.

Here is the answer I gave some time ago to a similar question:

Blank lines should be left above and below the matrix. I would not include the separation line under the headings because since there is a blank line, the "separation" is already handled. Also having both a separation line and a blank line under the headings just puts the headings one more line away from the column they identify.

Because the grouping signs are not actually part of the columns, I would align the column headings with the first cell of the value.

Yes, a superscript indicator would be required on the minus sign, otherwise your baseline indicator has sent that part of the expression back to the baseline.
