There's a BANA document about transcribing math books in UEB (it's not my suggestion to do this!). The document can be found here:

claurentParticipantYour gut is correct. In formation, directions are telling the student to do something with the material that follows. These should be blocked in cell 5. The paragraph "directions" are something like "Look around your classroom and find five things that start with the letter D". This statement is then followed by a heading or something completely new and unrelated.
As a sidenote...is you are doing a math book (which this looks like) even if it is in UEB, BANA recommends following the Nemeth format rules...so the first example (with the dollar signs) is a directive sentence and the 2nd example is direction which would be in 5-3.

claurentParticipantYou should used the underscore symbol (dots 46, 36). It's a blank.
Cindi
claurentParticipantThe acronym LLC must be preceded by a grade 1 indicator so it is not misread.
Cindi
claurentParticipantThere is no rule but my suggestion would be to braille it all as one number (no spaces, no hyphens).
Cindi
claurentParticipantAccording to BF 2.10.7a, continuation letters are not used in the Table of Contents.
Cindi
claurentParticipantThe note's runover position is still cell 3 even if there isn't any text there. There is no need for a blank line.
Cindi
claurentParticipantYou are correct that BF doesn't address multi-step numbered directions. You will have to choose what works best and then be consistent. You suggestion would work.
Cindi
claurentParticipantYour choice to do them as combined pages is good. I like the cell 5 headings for the "entry word". I might suggest using a cell 7 heading for Example (and removing the bold). That then leaves the examples set apart a bit which makes it easier to tell what is example and what is definition. I, personally, would draw the arrows rather than using the TN, but there is no rule against what you did.

Cindi
claurentParticipantThere are no rules for this, bit I would suggest putting the dates as cell five headings and following print for the paragraphs. If you feel it necessary, you could do a TN to state that, in print, the dates are at the right margin.
Cindi
claurentParticipantI think it depends a bit on what the letter/number references mean. You could consider it a cross reference but I think it would get lost. My suggestion (and it is JUST a suggestion) is to place it following the exercise number and enclose it in parentheses. You would have to do a transcriber's note regarding this change to print. Something like "References that follow exercise questions in print are enclosed in parentheses and placed after the exercise number in braille." Whatever you decide to do with these, just be consistent 🙂

With that assumption, then you are correct, no blank lines are required around the picture caption.
