Your example is technically correct 🙂

While it is technically correct that 6 cells means from the margin of the page, I think it will make reading the document easier if you make sure to leave two cells in front of the page number...the rules says "AT LEAST six cells..." However, if you stick to the letter of the law...six cells is all that is required.
Cindi
claurentParticipantBecause the directions apply to BOTH boxes (and not just the one that follows the directions, the blank line is required.

claurentParticipantI am on vacation at the moment and cannot look up the "older" files (or even download what is on the BANA website) but in the latest version of BF 2016, there is no blank line between the table heading/caption and the beginning blank line in Sample 11-1 (which is referred to in 11.2.8). If there is another sample/example you are referring to, please let me know ... and I will look at the older files when I return home late this weekend.
Cindi
claurentParticipantThe braille did not come through as braille...but I will try to answer your questions.
1. I think that is a transcriber's decision. If it is a short list, I would recommend keeping it on one page, but otherwise, lists can be split between braille pages.
2. No, there is no need to bring the cell 1 entry to the next page to keep it with its sub-entries.
3. I can't read the ascii and the format was not retained.
4. Yes, I think...again, it's hard to decipher the examples.
5. I can't read the braille and I don't think the format was retained.
Could you send the examples as an attachment?
The bottom line is, yes, lists can be split between braille pages. You cannot have one line of a list on the first page, but if the first entry of the list is more than one line, it COULD be split between braille pages. I would probably bring it all to the next page though.
Cindi
claurentParticipantThe braille did not come through. Would you be able to send it as an attachment rather than trying to embed it here?

Cindi
claurentParticipantBased on the print title page (inside the book) and then adding in the additional information on the cover, I would suggest:
GEORGIA EXPERIENCE
5th Grade Student Workbook
Social Studies
HISTORY ....
From the title and copyright pages it is clear to me that the title is the first three lines (as those pages do not even mention the Social Studies information).
I would leave off the information about the Performance Standards.
Cindi
claurentParticipantSee the attached document.  The letters over 26 are two columns, with one of the columns being blank.  It's not ideal, but it does work 🙂

The typeform indicators are to be used for print fonts (red, highlighting, etc) the symbol indicators are to represent actual print symbols that there are no UEB indicators for.
If the book you are transcribing requires more than 5 transcriber-defined typeform indicators you will have to be creative...for instance, if there are no bold words in the text, it is acceptable to use bold (or script or underlining) for, say, the nouns (or whatever). Â Though it is not technically correct to use the transcriber-defined symbol indicators to represent a font, it would be better to use symbols that already exist in UEB than to create your own symbols.
BF does not create or change UEB symbols...we used only what was already defined/explained in the UEB rule book. Â We also did not "take out" any UEB symbols.
Cindi
claurentParticipantI would need more information in order to answer this question...It's hard to imagine a case where you would need than 7 undefined symbols?
Can you tell me what you have used the first 7 for?
Cindi
claurentParticipantI believe the current guideline is that the pronunciations should stay on one braille line if it will all fit on one line...you should only divide it between braille lines if it will not fit.
Cindi
claurentParticipantI've asked the committee and we wondered if we could see the inside title page of the book and the copyright page...this is a tough one!
Cindi
claurentParticipantI had to check with a couple of others on this one 🙂
The issue here is that there is no way for the reader to know which closing grouping indicator goes with which opening indicator. Â I think what you have done is ok...but a transcriber's note should be included to let the reader know that one of the "groups" is inside another one.
Cindi
claurentParticipant8.3.5d has been removed from Braille Formats 2016 (or will be in the final version). Â You can divide a list between braille pages.
