It has been brought to my attention that these "labels" are really identifiers for the equations and as such should follow rule XXV, sec 188, and be moved to the left of the equations in question.
dworthingParticipantOn the APH website (code books and instruction materials):
Addendum 1 to the Nemeth Code for Mathematics and Science Notation, 1972 Revision: Ancient Numeration Systems: Print
Catalog Number: 7-68654-00
Format: Regular PrintPrice: $5.00
dworthingParticipantIf you use the letter X following 200 it will appear that there is an unknown factor multiplied times the 200. (200 times X) To convey the true meaning of the expression the multiplication cross should be used.
dworthingParticipantWhere can I get the addendum?
dworthingParticipantThe ohm is represented in braille by the Greek capital letter omega [braille].,w
dworthingParticipantThe grouping symbols (angle brackets) are not part of the web address so would not be done in CBC. If your base code is Nemeth, use the grouping symbols from that Code. If literary is your base code, use the Braille Formats symbols. The begin CBC would follow the opening bracket and end CBC would precede the closing bracket.
dworthingParticipantIf you are on the title page, the code is literary. Everywhere else in the transcription must be done in Nemeth Code.
dworthingParticipantWhat braille letters represent OHM? Have been unable to find it. I noticed that comments but need a little more clarification.
dworthingParticipantI have checked with other members of the Math Committee and we agree that these symbols would have to be done tactilely. If you were to create braille symbols to represent them, the tactile drawings would have to be included as part of the definition in the Special Symbols list.
dworthingParticipantThanks a bunch!
dworthingParticipantSince your marginal note is essentially an indented paragraph, I would show the displayed expression indented 2 cells to the right of the runover margin, just as you would with a normal paragraph. Your displayed expression would start in cell 7 and runover in cell 9.
dworthingParticipantSA is an abbreviation and should be double capped. If you single cap the letters you are saying they are individual letters with individual identities that are multiplied together.
dworthingParticipantCould you show me a picture of your print?
dworthingParticipantThere is always something new to deal with, isn't there? Because the system of equations is a unit, and the label is not really part of that unit, I would follow your second suggestion and put the Equation identifiers 2 cells to the right of the longest equation.
dworthingParticipantIf the expression is embedded in the narrative text, it would appear as it does in the example. But you are correct, if it is displayed, the runover would be 2 cells to the right of the beginning of the expression.
